I had the pleasure of joining the Dolce & Gabbana team for the SS18 show held at the Metropol in Milan on Sunday 24th September 2017 and I have never, ever, in my career, attended a show with such fun and vibrancy! The playlist was enough to get everyone in the mood – Rihanna Love on the Brain, Calvin Harris, Katy Perry and Pharrell…Feels, Katy Perry Chained to the Rhythm…I could go on!
This season’s collection was named Queen of Hearts and rightly so as the designers took the collection back to the nineties following a pattern that emerged at Milan Fashion Week amongst designers playing homage to the roots of the brand.
Whilst a giant pack of playing cards were shuffling around as the background set, the show began with models walking down the runway in sheer ruched dresses with little black slips and bras finished with red lips and feline flicks. Amongst them, a fabulously fierce Hailey Baldwin and Sara Sampaio before the real colour and vibrancy started with sequinned tunic tops paired with skinny sparkly pants and models dressed (quite literally) as playing cards.
Amongst all the sparkle and sequins, the design duo showed an impressive collection of separates that could be worked into one’s wardrobe – a sharp blazer with slick lines, a whimsical chiffon silk dress that can be paired with an evening sandal or thigh boot for cooler temperatures, t-shirts to pair with denim – It really is all very wearable and very fun! And what I absolutely adore about the brand is how the woman’s body, and curves are truly understood.
I have shared some images of the collection with details, taken from instagram. My slightly blurrier images (which I apologise in advance for) will be in the next post sharing city street snaps in Milan. A massive thank you to the Dolce & Gabbana team for the wonderful lunch and private party also!
With Love… Me x
